Tips for How to Jump Start a Car with Another Car

These tips will show you how to jump-start a car with another car.

The key is getting both vehicles close enough the jumper cables reach both batteries easily. Once the cars are close, turn off the engine and get the hoods open. You'll want to get a look at the battery terminals, so you know where the red positive and black negative jumper cables are to be attached.

The red cable goes to the bad battery first, then the good battery. The black cable goes to the good battery first, then remaining cable on a metal surface anywhere near the dead battery. Start the engine of the one car, wait a couple minutes, then try and see if your car will start. If no, try again, if yes, remove the cables in reverse order.

Visit Atlanta Classic Cars so we have the opportunity to load-test your car battery and make the right recommendation after we determine its strength.
